The Parish Social Committee plans and hosts a wide variety of activities. On the first Sunday of the month from October through June, we host parish coffees from 9:30-1130AM. Each coffee social has a different theme depending on the season.
The Sharing Tree program is a very successful event held ever year in December that benefits individual families in need as well as the Poughkeepsie. Children’s Home, Good Counsel Home, Birthright, the Lutheran Care Center and the Handmaids of Mary in Harlem. Every year, through the generosity of our parishioners, we bring holiday cheer to a great many people. We also host a Christmas caroling and three lighting party, and, Santa comes by to visit with the children.
At Easter we make approximately 200 Easter baskets that are delivered to the House on the Hill in Goshen which is a day care center for migrant worker’s children, the Poughkeepsie Children’s Home, Good Counsel Home and Birthright. We also have an Easter egg hunt for our children. We fill the eggs and hide them for the children to find. After the hunt it’s time to make your own ice cream sundae.
In May, we have a reception following a special Mass for couples celebrating their 25th and 50th Wedding Anniversaries. We also host receptions after the First Communion Masses to share the joy with the children and their families.
We are a very busy organization that has a lot of fun while we celebrate our parish. We welcome new members and are always looking for fresh ideas.
